Running Where History Lives

Ferozepur, a historic border town, holds a special place in India's freedom struggle. Reverently, known as the Land of Martyrs, it is the site where legendary freedom fighters - Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were cremated at the National Martyrs Memorial, Hussainiwala. The town is also home to the Saragarhi Memorial Gurudwara, commemorating the epic last stand of 21 valiant soldiers of the 36 Sikh Regiment in 1897. Notably, Ferozepur is the place where the 36 Sikh Regiment was raised and stationed before the historic Battle of Saragarhi, an act of unmatched valour that inspired the Bollywood film "Kesari", which brought this tale of sacrifice to the national consciousness.
Runners will follow the International Border on a path of remembrance, connecting with India's glorious past at revered historical monuments including –

  • National Martyrs Memorial
  • Ferozepur Fort
  • Saragarhi Gurudwara

On 09 Nov 2025, the runners will participate in the Ferozepur Border Marathon-2025 with the aim of paying homage to the brave hearts, promoting border tourism and spreading awareness against the growing menace of drug abuse in the region.
